Mass vaccination centre opens in Folkestone

The first mass vaccination centre to open in Kent was in Folkestone, inside a former Debenhams store. The ex-department store on Sandgate Road, which opened last Tuesday (January 26), was revamped as part of government plans to speed up the roll out nationwide. It was the first of a number of large-scale vaccination centres to open across Kent and hopes to vaccinate 'tens of thousands' of people every week.

There has been some controversy

Although there has been some controversy, with some people complaining of lack of social distancing and long queues, since the centre opened last week. The site will be administering the life-saving vaccine seven days a week between 8am and 8pm, with the vulnerable priority groups among the first to benefit.

Address: 48-66 Sandgate Rd, Folkestone CT20 1DN
